Getting Ahead of the Game

Our Workmen

Our Craftsmen

At the Sash Window Workshop we make all of our products by hand in our Bracknell workshop because of this our customers often have to wait just a little bit longer to have their beautiful timber sash and casement windows and doors installed.  We understand how busy our customers lives are and therefore offer them installation dates up to two months in advance.  Our installers always arrange to be at customers’ homes between 8 and 9 in the morning, traffic permitting.

Our installers are fully qualified, expert craftsmen; however, they also uphold the Sash Window Workshop attitude to customer service. Our installers fully appreciate that they are guests in your home and they will treat your house with the utmost care and respect. In order to minimise any disruption our workmen leave their work area clean and tidy and, most importantly, safe at all times. Naturally installation timescales will vary depending on the complexity and size of the job.

This summer we have the added challenge of planning their routes into East London and other sporting venues over the Olympic and Paralympic period which means some customers might have to wait just a little bit longer.  But we think our hand crafted wooden windows and doors are worth waiting for.

The Sash Window Workshop Installations Team

Here at The Sash Window Workshop we are proud of our 19 year history of producing hand crafted timber sash and casement windows and doors for period homes in London and the South East.

Our trademark installation and service vans leave the workshop in Bracknell with customer’s windows every morning at around 6.30 so that our installers can be on hand in customers’ properties between 8 and 9, so long as the traffic allows.  All of our installers are employed by us, wear the company uniform and carry ID cards.  They fit timber sash and casement windows and doors made by our employees in our workshop.  In the unlikely event that there are any issues with the installation these are dealt with promptly by our customer service team in Bracknell.

Many testimonials from satisfied customers can be seen on our website but we wanted to share a recent email from Mr C of London W4 who stated “We have been completely satisfied with the windows, and with the workmen who fitted them so professionally. The three men who did the work were punctual, professional and pleasant, and when they had finished the work - to our complete satisfaction - they took away the old windows, cleared all the rubbish, and left the house looking clean and tidy. Congratulations!”

We come across many organisations that seem to try to emulate us in one way or another and to trick prospective customers into believing that they are the company with the well known logo they are used to seeing outside their neighbours’ homes.  Whilst we accept that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, we want to preserve our reputation for premier quality product and services.  Call us now on 0800 597 2598 to arrange an appointment with one of The Sash Window Workshop’s sales surveyors.

The New Sash Window Workshop Showroom

Showroom Sash Window

We at the Sash Window Workshop are starting to get excited about our new showroom on the ground floor of the Business Design Centre in Islington. We will be launching the showroom to coincide with the Country Living exhibition which opens there on 21st March.

We are really excited that our customers in and around London who may not have the time to visit our Bracknell workshop will be able to see a great range of our products and at ease. Although, we still recommend customers who have the opportunity to, to visit our workshop. In our workshop you can really experience the skilled craftsmanship and passion that goes into our work. Here you see blocks of timber transformed into fantastic pieces to enhance the look of your home.

However, visitors to Islington will be able to see samples of our sash windows, casement windows and doors together with the various types of ironmongery we use.  If you come and see us during the exhibition you will be able to discuss your plans with one of our sales surveyors who can give you insightful advice about what might work best for you.

Customers who visit the showroom will also benefit from a special introductory offer of 10% discount on all quotations.  Of course, we will still be there after the exhibition has finished so please call us on 0800 597 2598 to arrange to meet us there!

“ The Sash Window Workshop’s finest” – In and out minimum fuss!

Sash Window Workshop Workers

Fitting a new sash window

Our fitting team are second to none in their skill, application and dedication even during the coldest winter months. Continually delivering the highest standards of work, with a smile on their face.

Some of you might recall the winter of 2010/2011, it was really tough. Our team fitted record volumes of windows in the worst of conditions, leaving our clients delighted.  Fortunately this winter has been somewhat easier  for them to date. So long as we give them the right equipment,  support and a warm uniform to work in, they will deliver. Not forgetting the obligatory “curry night” in the spring, as a thank you for their efforts.

So if you are considering having work done during these colder months, you don’t need to worry about fitting and the impact on your home, take the benefits our work will offer as soon as you can. Our fitters will be in an out minimum fuss and disruption, whatever the weather, and always with a smile on their faces!

IT Project for 2012

We look forward to rolling out our new IT system in the new year, which we believe will allow us to make our business even more effective and serve our customers even better.

It has been almost two years of often “painful process”, but it is now in its final phase. It incorporates  new remote pricing software to replace our existing RAMPs pricing system, with associated customer management, manufacturing, stock and accounting modules which will allow us to operate from “quotation to invoice” through one system.

We hope that once bedded in it will be a huge step forward in efficiency and allow us to put down more stable roots for further growth.

Changing our paint – Environmental Challenges

As part of our continuous drive to be a cleaner and more environmentally sensitive company, as from January 1st 2012 The Sash Window Workshop will no longer be using any oil based paints in it products and services. We will continue to paint our windows to the highest standards for our customers, but will  use only  water based paints, which are better for the environment and also better for our staff  to use from a health and safety point of view.

We are delighted to take this step as it wholly in keeping with our continued drive to make our business as environmentally friendly and sustainable as possible.

The Sash Window Workshop Goes International

The Sash Window Workshop has just sent its first windows overseas – to Sweden of all places, home of the high performance timber window.

Our client needed an elegant window solution for her home and ordered four Georgian patterns “A” rated traditionally hung box sash windows, made from Accoya. There are no box sash window suppliers in Sweden apparently.

Our client is delighted with her windows and we are very proud, hopefully we may teach the Swedes a thing or two about beautiful sash windows – could this be the start of something big?

Period Window Owners Really Ought to Know This

Most period homeowners don’t know that the average “U” value (measurement of thermal efficiency) of a single glazed draughty timber window is at best likely to be around 5.5.

If you fit one of The Sash Window Workshop’s Classic range of “A” rated traditional timber windows, you can achieve a "U" value of approximately 1.5 for the window (about the best on the market for thermal efficiency), which is a massive improvement. This not only saves energy, but radically improves comfort levels and moreover our windows are works of great “charm and beauty” made to the highest standards and designed to complement our clients homes. They also come with outstanding customer service and an industry leading warranty.

There are Traditional Windows and Then There Are “Sash Window Workshop” Windows

During tough economic times, price pressure naturally weighs heavily on customers’ minds when looking to invest in new windows.

It really important that when buying windows people really do look at what they are getting for their money, we all know that quality costs, but generally delivers a return in the long term.

At The Sash Window Workshop we think it is even more important than ever to drive home the message to our clients that they need to look at several key factors when making a purchasing decision on traditional windows. They are,  quality of timber and window build,  aesthetic appearance (some traditional windows are simply not in keeping), warranties, quality of after sale service, fitting standards and the performance of the windows (our Classic range of windows are all  “A” rated) . It goes without saying that the financial stability of the company is also of paramount importance during these difficult times, just recently two of our competitors have ceased trading.

We would rather encourage our clients to buy little and often if budgets are tight and phase purchase over years than look for a substandard product elsewhere, that may not last or don’t look right. If anyone wants some free advice on traditional timber windows and what to look for, please contact us at info@sashwindow.com.
